A new MTI-SAR approach using the reflectivity displacement method

چکیده
A new method for moving target detection, localization, and velocity estimation using SAR raw data is presented which allows the determination of the target’s complete velocity vector. The method is applicable if the target has either a tangential velocity ( I l l # 0) or a radial acceleration ( ~ I R # 0), or both. It is based on the analysis of the Doppler rate map which is obtained from the range compressed raw data, applying the Reflectivity Displacement Method (RDM). The tangential velocity of each moving target is obtained from its own Doppler rate and the radial velocity from its own linear range migration. A velocity accuracy better than 3 m/s can be achieved for the airborne case. The method is validated experimentally by the use of real SAR data obtained by DLR’s E-SAR. The paper gives a short description of the state of the art of moving target velocity measurements, introduces the RDM for stationary targets and its extension to the application for moving targets. It furthermore shows experimental results.

Sar and Mti Processing of Sparse Satellite Clusters
The concept of radar satellite constellations has been proposed in the literature and is currently under research. These constellations possess the wide angular coverage necessary for performing spaceborne MTI and the spatial sampling necessary for wide-area SAR. However, the constellations form arrays that are sparsely populated, three-dimensional, and irregularly spaced. Therefore, current SA...
متن کاملMoving Target Detection on SAR Images
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a well known technique for generating high-resolution images stationary scenes but it is not adapted to imaging moving targets as the movement of a target induces both a delocalization and a defocusing effect in a SAR image. The aim of this paper is to analyse the signatures of moving targets in SAR images and to present techniques to detect them, from one sing...

SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) raw data simulation has a significant role in the evaluation of newly-proposed methods for the estimation of moving target parameters. The evaluation of methods in different cases emphasizes the importance of the need to have fast simulators. Using reverse SAR imaging methods for the raw data simulations has achieved good results in the simulation of the static ta...

Nowadays, the TomoSAR technique has been able to overcome the limitations of radar interferometry techniques in separating multiple scatterers of pixels. By extending the principles of virtual aperture in the elevation direction, these techniques pay much attention in the analysis of urban challenging areas. Despite the expectation of interference of the distribution of buildings with different...

The Lincoln SPARTA program is developing next-generation phased arrays for enhanced radar performance and efficiency. One novel capability being explored is simultaneous operation of MTI (moving target indicator) and SAR (synthetic aperture radar) imaging, two functions that are usually mutually exclusive. MTI scans large areas quickly, using short integration (~10 msec) and low bandwidth (~10 ...
